I cannot access the Internet after Norton Internet Security installation

After installation of Norton Internet Security (NIS) you must configure your firewall options if you are having problems connecting to the Internet. Please beware that some programmes including internet browsers, may still have problems while connecting the Web if they use non-standard port connections for some operations. However, Norton will attempt to recognise their behaviour and allow Internet access in most cases.

To get to the Firewall Programme Rules, follow the steps below:

  1. Launch Norton Internet Security if not already started
  2. Go to the settings pane
  3. Go to Personal Firewall configuration by clicking Personal Firewall and then Configure option
  4. Select the programme that makes you trouble while connecting to the Internet in the left hand side of the Security Options and select the programme in the programme view
  5. Adjust settings for each programme that you think may experience problems connecting to the Internet in the list by changing the Block to Allow alongside each programe in the list
  6. Select OK to confirm your choice

If you still have problems connecting to the Internet using Norton Internet Security, you can refer to the Online Help included in your NIS installation. Alternatively you can contact Norton Tech Support, to solve the issue for you.
