In the Settings window, you can turn on or turn off the following Quick Controls services:

* Phishing Protection
* Identity Safe
* Automatic Task Popups
* Backup Status Indicators
* Norton Sidebar Gadget. The Norton Sidebar Gadget is available only in the 32-bit version of Windows Vista.
* Norton Community Watch
* Automatic LiveUpdate
* SymProtect Tamper Protection

You can hover your mouse pointer over a service to see a description of that service.

You should leave all of the services turned on.

To turn on or turn off Quick Controls services

1. In the Norton 360 main window, click Settings.
2. In the Settings window, under Quick Controls, do one of the following:
* To turn on a service, check its check box.
* To turn off a service, uncheck its check box.
3. Click Close.

Turning on and turning off Automatic LiveUpdate

Norton 360 automatically updates LiveUpdate to provide you with the best PC security and performance. In some cases, however, you may need to turn off Automatic LiveUpdate temporarily.

To turn on or turn off Automatic LiveUpdate

1. In the Norton 360 main window, click Settings.
2. In the Settings window, under Quick Controls, do one of the following:
* To turn on Automatic LiveUpdate, check Automatic LiveUpdate.
* To turn off Automatic LiveUpdate, uncheck Automatic LiveUpdate.
3. Click Close.

Turning on and turning off SymProtect Tamper Protection

SymProtect Tamper Protection prevents worms, Trojan horses, retroviral threats, and other security risks from tampering with Norton 360. However, occasionally you might need to turn off SymProtect Tamper Protection temporarily to perform certain tasks, such as installing new software.

This option is not available in the 64-bit version of Windows Vista.

To turn on or turn off SymProtect Tamper Protection

1. In the Norton 360 main window, click Settings.
2. In the Settings window, under Quick Controls, do one of the following:
* To turn on SymProtect Tamper Protection, check SymProtect Tamper Protection.
* To turn off SymProtect Tamper Protection, uncheck SymProtect Tamper Protection.
3. Click Close.

Turning on and turning off the Norton Sidebar Gadget

The Norton Sidebar Gadget is displayed on the Sidebar of your Windows Vista desktop. You can turn on or turn off the Norton Sidebar Gadget. The Norton Sidebar Gadget helps you to fix all the issues that need further action from you.

This option is available only in the 32-bit version of Windows Vista.

To turn on or turn off the Norton Sidebar Gadget

1. In the Norton 360 main window, click Settings.
2. In the Settings window, under Quick Controls, do one of the following:
* To turn on the Norton Sidebar Gadget, check Norton Sidebar Gadget.
* To turn off the Norton Sidebar Gadget, uncheck Norton Sidebar Gadget.
3. In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
4. Click Close.
